they told her to drink more water
Hope it was not the instructors at a Survival Training Exercise in FLORIDA that dispensed that terrible advice.
Water is just the solvent for all the biochemical reactions that run the mill. Electrolites, SALTS of various minerals are one vital payload that the h20 solvent transports to feed the reactions, as it were. Salts excrete on a continuous basis, especially in FLORIDA Survival conditions. Krikey.
Those excreted minerals are not available for more reactions and need to be replenished just as water needs to be available in proper proportions.
If anyone's ever done construction on a slab in August, 106 degrees, direct sun from top, sunlight and heat bouncing up from the slab you're framing up from, or the like, they used to have salt tablets that'd go down the hatch with a slug of water if on any rare occasion one was needed. We'd see guys dropping once every great while, not often. Happened one time for me. Severe no-barf nausia. Green around the gills. Bugzy handed me a salt tablet. I was sceptical but 5 minutes later I was back to work kicking ass and makin' frames.

At the ER, that poor "patient" from survival school probably got an IV drip, a pat on the back, and a "go get em tiger" from the staff. They'd seen it all before. Coulda been a demonstration on it's own. You never forgot it did you.
