Kissinger: No Military Victory in Iraq

LONDON -- Military victory is no longer possible in Iraq, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said in a television interview broadcast Sunday.

In a wide ranging interview on British Broadcasting Corp. television, Kissinger presented a bleak vision of Iraq, saying the U.S. government must enter into dialogue with Iraq's regional neighbors _ including Iran _ if any progress is to be made in the region.

"If you mean by 'military victory' an Iraqi Government that can be established and whose writ runs across the whole country, that gets the civil war under control and sectarian violence under control in a time period that the political processes of the democracies will support, I don't believe that is possible," he said on the BBC's Sunday AM breakfast show.

How much sense does this make.

You see two people evaluating a trade.

One says it will go south.

The other is bullish, patriotically so.

You listen to the bull because he says the train is leaving the station, we are going into a huge bull phase, yada, yada, yada....so you get long, and the market goes down. You are underwater. You have added to the position multiple times as it is going down, on the advice of the bull. (Think Cramer yelling "stay the course!!!")

The bear has just calmly said it is going lower all along.

You are at a point of not knowing what to do. Should you cut your losses, stand pat, or add more?

The bear says get out it is going lower still, the bull says buy more, that we have reached a bottom...

Who should you listen to for advice now, the bear who was right, or the bull who talked you into adding to a loser....

prob is that the now bear was a bull till a couple of hours ago, why did he change his mind now. is not that things have dramatically changed in iraq. he was either in self denial or was after the 'job' and just wanted to appease the leader and his community.

No one disagrees that Doubter wants to hold a losing position, a position in which there is no plan for success....

3/4 of chit'nchat inhabitants wants to keep hold of that position and we know the majority is always wrong. and they even been told over and over by that multibillion dollar deficit runnin' in the iraq trade things aint workin', yet.....


time to add a boatload of shares hapa. we are at the bottom...well, at least it is cheaper now then ever before innit.
 
Here are some of the reasons I have seen so far that are provided by the klannish:

1. If we don't kill terrorists in Iraq, they will come to your back yard and kill you while you are having a barbecue.

(As if....unless they are all dressing up as Mexicans and coming over the open border...not likely at all. How the heck are they going to get to Mexico anyway? :D )

2. We have to keep allowing young men to die because others have died, we must not allow their fellow soldiers deaths to be in vain.

(Stupid....He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day. I would rather have living soldiers for where we actually need them.)

3. If we withdraw, we show the world how weak we are.

(Oh, so we are going to show them how stupid we are instead...)

War is much different than trading. If we want to we can crush the enemy and force the outcome. The only problem is that as Kissinger said the LoooZZZzzzers can't stand for it. They are saying it won't work and then doing everything in their power to make it fail.
