No one's getting close to any nukes w/o China's overt permission or knowledge, and they'll likely be the 1st to strike down such silly thinking with extreme prejudice before we'd ever need to. You have a Supreme Leader.... and a few dozen Generals that have bowed to him for however many years. They don't talk to China, they do as Kim says. Kim suddenly dies. And those generals don't have the checks and balances, aside from their Supreme Leader, that generals in Western nations have. If Kim dies, we have no idea what's going to play out. This is not a U.S.A style smooth transition of power, especially if some of those generals decide they aren't taking orders from a woman.

The best thing that could happen right now is for Kim to be alive and well. (Think Saddam)
