Kids = worthless investment?

The research is interesting, but the conclusion doesn't follow in my mind.

I for one have a hard time imagining the point of life, if it wasn't for my kids. I have a great wife, I have a great career.... But so what? What's the purpose behind work...? Buy more crap? Are we on this earth just to watch American Idol and the Super Bowl? What's the point of being alive?

My greatest satisfaction in life comes from raising my kids, teaching them how to be happy and successful in life.

Good point.

Just last week my 1 year old son walked on his own for the first time after I had been working with him on it for about a month or so.

By far my happiest moment of the past 20 years.

In fact watching him grow and teaching him has given me many "happiest moments".

Nothing better than being a dad.

Yea, I got kids and I'm delusional, beats the heck out of talking to adults. My kids are one step above a dog.

My dog loves me even if I don't give up a milk bone, kids.....gotta give up some cash.......to feel the love, lmao

An anonymous parent in the Boston area recently posted an ad on Craigslist offering to sell their body parts to pay off their child's student loans.

The ad detailed a person 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with "organs in working order." The writer offered blood, plasma, kidneys in place of the $200,000 in education bills.

"Use my body for anything legal, or medically experimental," the advert said. "Simply pay off all of my children's student loans ($200,000) and you can use me anyway you need."

Enjoy every minute of it… for when he turns 16/17ish – you’ll rue being a parent (yeah I know it is hard to believe right now..)

Don’t be surprised when you wake up one day and find you have a 2yo –in almost a man’s body - on your hands

All rational thought will have escaped him

I would have to blame that on bad parenting. It's like someone that buys a puppy and then blames the dog when it grows up into a dangerous, poorly trained, large adult German Shepherd. It's not the dog's fault, it's the people that failed to train the dog properly when it was young.

Obviously this is the biggest bs in the world. Happiness can be measured in other terms than dollars. I guess the truth is that there are too many self centered individuals in the world that don't see the value in creating a life and raising a child. God save us.
