But i'm still trying to understand what is the connection between the true conservatives of yesterday, i.e., the classical liberals, and today's Republicans who are what Chomsky calls radical stateists. It appears to me that today's Republican party is as far removed from classical liberalism ,i.e. the conservative ideology of Russell Kirk, as Donald Trump is removed from civility. But what do I know?

Paul Ryan is a fake conservative as are his budgets and policies. Is he a Republican..yes. But he has much more in common with the old liberal rockefeller bush wing of the Republican party than the reagan wing or the conservative wing. as do most the republicans in congress calling themselves conservative... and then voting like democrats. The freedom caucus is where you may find real some true conservatives...

that is the thing... we don't expect conservative justices to vote the party line. We expect them to do the right thing per the constitution.

because the precedent has been around so long... it would be a bit surprising if conservatives all overruled roe completely... it would be much more likely we see it cut back to a logical position... Like viability outside the womb.
Or, better yet letting the states decide. (which would be one of the arguments I would find pretty compelling if someone asked me to consider roe. not that I expect anyone to ask)

Be careful what you wish for.
There are cases being heard in Texas on challenging DACA where the states bringing suit purposedly forum-shopped it so that the district court judge would be favorable and the appellate court judge will be favorable when it is appealed (in other words, what the libs do when they introduce cases in the nineth circus).
It is expected to be through the appellate court by fall. So just keep in mind that if the Supreme Court hears it or even votes to not hear it (ie. does not grant certiorari) then the lower court decision stands) with a 4-4 decision - not only on the case itself but all the related motions. Or worse yet, there will be a new justice by then and they will hear it. You are screwed either way. Unless you think Trump is going to appoint another Sotomyer/Kagan/Ginsberg Space Monkey.
Might want to go to your plan b and have a Canadian judge come down and fill the vacancy while the nomination process grinds on. Let us know how that works out.
