While accepting the fact that the dems foaming at the mouth about roe v. wade will do their thing at the polls, let's not forget the basic lesson from 2016 which is that conservatives and deplorables actually get to show up and vote too. Sometimes in larger numbers than the dems think they should be allowed.
I accept the fact that the roe v. wade thing is a good and workable battle cry for them, and as I said, let's just get going. Some blood needs to flow and that's fine.
But one of the things that makes the roe v. wade battle messy is that the battle tends to get waged by full, full Che Guevera democrat candidates who are vulnerable for their loon positions. So yes, the roe v. issue makes for a good rallying cry but the candidate supporting it is also often an open borders, pro-MS-13, full bernie type which makes them target-rich for republicans.
The dems are lost in space. They have some issues that seem extremely workable but they fear that they could go poof by election time. They are absolutely orgasmic about having the separation of families issue as an election issue, but that could go away by election time. Then what? And they could campaign their arse off on the roe v. wade issue and then a court appointee is confirmed right before the election. Then what? They have no real platform. They are just flailing around trying to graft on to the issue of the day.
Also, unless an idiot is nominated, about any nominee who has not been in a cave in the Himalayas for the last thirty years knows that you just deal with the roe v. wade issue by laying low and mumbling some words about it being settled law and you have no further comment because you may need to rule on cases arising before the court. blah, blah, blah. We have seen this movie before. And we have also seen a president who said he was anti-abortion recently elected. Some of these battles are rough but they are doable. Let's get going and see who wants to bleed the most.

They're not. They're citing the McConnell precedent. I certainly don't see it as last ditch as it's anything but a foregone conclusion. I see it as a positive as,
1) I pull out
2) It is biological-motivation to MOVE every woman to the polls. They could be giving birth on election day and they'll somehow make it to the polls during contractions

It’s much too acute to think this court seat is all about Roe, especially in light of the restrictive state tactics on abortion in many red states.
There is so much more environmental issues, executive power, religious intolerance and discrimination. A conservative in Kennedy’s swing seat would fundamentally change this country to an intolerant theocracy. This social discord that will rise from this will find its way to every corner of this country.
America is a liberal country, not a conservative country. I’m telling you guys who think you’re conservative because you don’t like democrats, you’re not really conservatives and you do not want a conservative Supreme Court. This country will be very different and for the worse. Iran here we come.

My oldest used to play "Star Wars Commander" on iOS. He asked me to join in and form a squad to battle Jedi in squad wars. We formed a squad of roughly 20-25 kids. We went 244/7/5 (W/L/D) which was the best record on the server. We were far from the strongest team, but we did draw against a top-10 team (base strength).
Early in 2017 a player from D.C. joined our squad. He introduced himself as an attorney who is a judicial clerk in/outside of D.C. Nothing of it until the Gorsuch nom and we would chat in email and on Skype.
He had to stop playing due to work commitments and dropped out of the squad. I got tired of it and my kid stopped playing so we disbanded.
I got back in touch with the guy this week and his words, verbatim, "Kennedy is retiring because he's terrified for the party into the upcoming midterms." I cut and pasted that from his email reply to me.
