Sorry but I didn't see him make a threatening move. The cops had a truck to shield themselves behind. I don't see the threat to them. They could have taken five minutes extra and tried to talk him down.

This is another reason that this case bothers me. Holding a weapon, even if you've been told to drop it, does not constitute a valid reason to shoot someone.
Another aspect of this case, and the other recent one in Kansas I think it was, bothers me.
There were multiple police on scene with weapons yet only one fired. The others apparently did not perceive a threat.
I also find the police account of why they targeted the Charlotte victim to be somewhat suspicious. They claimed he pulled in beside them and rolled a blunt, then they saw a gun. How could they see a gun in an ankle holster? Could they really see him rolling a doobie inside his car? Hmmm.

I disagree.
If you are holding a gun in your hand, and are told multiple times by the police to drop it and don't...I think you should expect to be shot.
If I were the police I may or may not have shot him. It's one thing to look at a video on the internet and say they should have done this or they should have done that... but to be in the situation with adrenalin flowing, not knowing who this guy was etc... I think I would have shot him.
What people here seem not to understand is that it is a crime to refuse to obey a lawful order from a police officer:

e.g. if a police officer tells you to turn left at an intersection where he is directing traffic it is a crime to refuse to do so. If he has time he will issue a 'ticket'...i.e. a fine. Little do you know but when he gives you that ticket you have been accused of a crime, convicted and fined all in one.
You can appeal and get that reversed but if you have ever tried to do that you know... it just ain't easy.
I am pretty sure that when the order was given to drop the gun that was a 'lawful order' and in this case the police were justified to enforce the order as necessary.
