Keep Losing sound

Hi there I wonder if anyone can help. I am using a Dell fully loaded and it works fine. Except that after a while I loose my sound for no apparent reason

error I get
(Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning

and also my printer stops working. The onnly way I can cure this is by rebooting which I have yo do by turning off the machine as the shut down stops working. Is this an easy fix or should I get somone in?

I've recently had my sound go off on my Dell T3400 Precision workstation. I simply cleaned-out all the temp files, ran an anti-virus scan, and then did a System Restore.

I was back in action shortly thereafter.
