If it a huge deal since he wants to sit on supreme court bench, does not matter if he was "only" 17. BUT it is a HUGE deal only if true. My personal opinion if they both go and testify under oath, and no other evidence or witness count is produced, then it is truly he/she said, and he should be confirmed.
No one's life should be destroyed by mere allegations coming from 1 person. Yes, it might suck for the victim, but we really must live by innocent until proven guilty.
