I was posting the following reply in the SPR released thread but think it is more in its place here due to the economic implications that are the result of the hurricane impact.
The little rhyme keeps on going through my head: "brains, brains, shit shit for brains" LOL.
What I basically mean with this is that there is a war going on and one has to have strategic reserves in order not to be held to ransom as the result of certain acts. One would have expected that the government would have learned from the second WW.
The infrastructure (at least as far as I can see from TV images) is completely screwed up in NO. And yes you may be able to temporarily house people on refineries in barracks etc. but how long are you going take to get the stuff running? Last time it took how long? Winter will be upon ya all there and things will get much worse then. Better start rationing now instead of tapping into the reserves. The way this goes now is to appease the "voters" and defer the consequences. Not the actions of a true leader.
Joe Bloggs and his mates Tom, Dick and Harry in the rest of the country that are not in direct contact with the aftermath of the hurricane are not going to curtail their driving habits, heating their homes etc, "someone else is affected, won't be me", yeah right!
So what is the US going to do coming Jan when winter has set in properly and refineries etc are still not working and oil is getting in short supply on the markets (due to no production from damaged rigs in the gulf, it takes time to repair the stuff ya know, you need wharves and staff etc) and the SPR is empty?
I pray for ya US but as was posted sometime ago on this board: there need to be no attack on the US, the US is destroying itself from within through leaders (both business and government) that have no vision.
I hope for the US that I am wrong but I can see a nice probability that the market will be down by next May ~ June by 20 ~ 40%
