Justice Kavanaugh confirmed

These are all good questions but our government can easily be evaluated on fiscal soundness and leaders on their actions. The metrics for evaluating our government is not that different from evaluating a publicly traded company.

We can start by asking ourselves how sound is the short, medium and long term prospects of our country under the current leadership and take it from there.

In the short term, a year or so, I’d say pretty good. Thereafter, we are heading for trouble.

I'm happy to discuss the soundness of fiscal policy with you. Just understand that we need to look at the issues when they all began and not just cherry picking the latest administration.

Which statistics would you like to discuss?

Good reflection. It would be good if we can get ETers to discuss particular policy points in detail on the politics forum in a civil manner. Maybe we can make some progress in solving the issues if common ground can be found.

Agree. I'm just not sure if the people who own the ram and the wall it is assaulting are those you think.

Generally, the axiom is understood to mean once the gates are breeched there is no longer an opportunity for negotiations. I think it’s fitting as a reply to frog’s post about the Democratic Party.

When they all began: please understand our government is designed to begin anew every 2, 4, & 6 years. We are in a State of constant and controlled revolution. It’s the design of our government.

Each administration has a chance to begin anew. Saying this is the way it has been so it must continue that way isn’t an excuse.

Anyway, minus that, if we are looking at an organization the first and most prudent place to start is the balance sheet.

Under Trump the financial soundness of our country has careened into negative trajectory while in expanding economic times. I would argue Trump and the Republicans in Congress, right now, are among the worst - if not the worst - fiscal managers of our country in its history.

There were and are quite a few people in the senior leadership of the fbi and elsewhere trying to "control" that revolution. Not what the framers had in mind.

I don’t know about that but there are in reality quite a few people in the fbi simply trying to do their job.
