So far, the only two are "I want it" and "2nd amendment give me this right".

That is why I brought up bazooka, since I am allowed under the constitution to own it.

Many think that ar15 will somehow be an effective weapon against government should it turn against its citizens. I listed earlier the minimal weapons that would be effective.

Actually reason #1, I want it, is backed up by reason #2, the 2nd Amedment. I happen to think the average Joe has no need for a AR-15, but the consitiution is the constitution, and changing it should be no walk in the park. The fact is there are things we can do which would be much more substancial for fighting violence than limiting assualt weapons. We have not even begun to approach those things, let alone exhaust them.
Three of those things being,
Mandatory 10 years for illegal possession of a gun, any gun.
Mandatory 25-life for all crimes committed with a gun in possession.
Mandatory death sentence for all gun crimes where the victim dies.

Quote from Tsing Tao:

Make guns illegal, and it's the same as illegal drugs. High school students can find illegal drugs quite easily. It would be no different were guns illegal. Remove the legal supply and people just go underground as a criminal element sees an opportunity for business.

If you made drugs legal, the criminal element supplying them would be crushed, as they would never be able to sell at comparable prices.

Absolutely and that is why I support 2nd amendment.

Wars on drugs can not be won while drugs are illegal. I am in favor legalizing them. Our society made a move in that direction few months ago in Colorado and Washington. It is a very slow process.

...Mandatory 25-life for all crimes committed with a gun in possession....

Pffft...How 'bout a mandatory death sentence for such a crime?

How about this:
1. Nutcase commits his crime on Monday.
2. Nutcase gets his trial on Tuesday.
3. Nutcase gets his head cut off on MTV on Wednesday during prime time.

Shhh...I'm such a liberal.

Quote from BSAM:

When you tell the truth, they get hostile, brother Duke.
Sometimes they even threaten to put you on "ignore".
Ooooooooooo...Not ignore!
Please don't put me on ignore...please, please, please...hehehehehehehehe...LMAO.

Keep telling it like it is, brother Duke.
Keep telling it like it is.

I keep on arguing my point. Somehow it was thought that I advocate that my opinion is an absolute truth. Hopefully, this has been cleared now.

I think the odds of more gun controls passing are quite high. It might just window dressing, but who knows. Many are just in denial.

Quote from BSAM:

Watch 'em when they go wacko on me.
They will be using a whiny voice, like a little girl while screaming lines like this:

BSAM, you're crazy, you're a liberal asshole, nobody cares about what you say, are you drunk, think much, your opinion don't count, etc., etc.

LOL

Very funny.

I want to hear some more about how they're going to bring down the USAF with their BB guns.
I laughed my ass to sleep last night.

Me too. Texted with few of my friends they had a good laugh as well.

Quote from BSAM:

I'm for the 2nd amendment.
I think every household should have a gun or two around.

I'm just not for the distortion that the gun nuts have stretched our precious 2nd amendment into, for their own good pleasure and profit.

Very well said my friend.

Self defense
home/castle defense
defense against government tyranny
foreign invasion?

I have yet to see what I consider a valid argument why we should not have them.

We are not talking about changing constitution. Constitution allows me to own bazooka, yet the laws enacted by the government do not.

Unfortunately, the measures you listed might work only on some criminals. Psychos who intend to take away their own life after their crime would not give a damn.

We need to try to find ways to prevent or minimize these horrible acts of violence.
