I opened with the contrast between mountains and molehills. I think Trump's gesture AFTER receiving the almost meaningless medal from the sickly King of an even sicker country was a mistake. It was asymetrical, and not a response to any prior, similar gesture. For that, the Saudi Kink should be rightly condemned for either his own naivity, or for setting up an opportunity to exploit propaganda. That was a Trump sized mistake, as the subsequent selling of arms and assistance to Arabia is/was a mistake.

The Korean salute is/was not a comparable mistake, if it was one at all. It could be these nations are trying to embarrass Trump, given any opporutinty, just as Macron (weird handshake), and Trudeau (comments for public consumption) did recently.
