Summary: High school football game on Friday night, ONE beer can falls outs of the stands. The reaction:

Incredibly, most of the parents seemed to comply, with some expressing approval of the stalinesque tactics. I suppose suppression of First Amendment rights is not the only thing we have to worry about. The education establishment also seems to think the Fourth Amendment doesn't apply to them either.

There's no way this would have happened at an inner city High School instead of lilly white Morristown and Dover NJ.
It would have been racist.

How much of a drone do you have to be to drive you kids in for a test?
We really need to start teaching history and the constitution to parents.

Most states have laws that any student on school property can be searched at any time for any reason. Failure to comply with the search leads to suspension or expulsion.

Don't like it? Well talk to your state legislators.

My response would be to file a federal constitutional rights case. Just because they are a school doesn't give them the right to act in an objectively unreasonable fashion. There is a big difference in having students pass through a metal detector to enter the school or open their lockers and forcing an entire gradnstadn of kids to get freakin blood tests over one can of beer.

I get it that you have relatives who work in public education and you think this is ok but I can't believe parents would sit still for it. It's like their various idiotic "zero tolerance" policies. They have zero tolerance for a kid bringing a Bible to school or drawing a picture of a gun, but an 18 year old grown man can stand up in class and shout profanities at a female teacher and the administration won't do a thing because he is a minority. Don't tell me that doesn't happen, because I know for a fact it did happen at Cary High.

I really fail to see why we should be lavishing money on public schools. Most of it is just wasted, a shocking amount is pissed away on students who shouldn't even be in the country, and teachers and administrators as a group seem to be largely loathsome.
 
My only question is what kid in highschool ever shows up to these games WITHOUT booze on them, are these teachers really this naieve?

I only went to higschool 15 years ago, and i can tell you with 100% certainty that 90% of the kids in the crowd were pissed, the teachers at my school didnt even do anything if you showed up pissed, they searched you at the gates , but there was easy ways to get it in.

This was in a smaller city in Canada where the legal age is only 19 though and most of us were 17 or 18 in our senior year so it might be a little different than the states where the age is 21.
