LAS VEGAS (AP) — The adult son of a Nevada rancher who hosted armed protesters against federal agents in a cattle roundup dispute in April acknowledged Monday that he faces arrest in a separate criminal case stemming from his felony conviction on burglary and weapon charges.

He could face two to eight years in state prison if he is found in violation of terms of the five years' probation imposed after he pleaded guilty in February 2013 to felony burglary and weapon theft charges.

"Rest easy," ''Thug in peace" and "See u on the other side" were among the things friends wrote to Lawrence Campbell, who police say ambushed Officer Melvin Santiago early Sunday as he responded to an armed robbery call at a 24/7 pharmacy. Other officers returned fire, killing Campbell.

Visitors to the memorial would not give their names to The Associated Press. But Barbara Jones, Campbell's neighbor, told The Jersey Journal that the Campbell she knew was nothing like the man city officials say was lying in wait for officers to arrive before opening fire.

"He was a good man. He looked out for everybody on the block," Jones told the newspaper.

“It is worth noting that we were besieged, flooded with calls from police officers furious that we would give media coverage to the wife of a cop killer,” Bergin said. “We decided to air it because it is important to shine a light on the anti-cop mentality that has so contaminated America’s inner cities. This same, sick, perverse line of thinking is evident from Jersey City to Newark and Patterson to Trenton. It has made the police officer’s job impossible and it has got to stop.”

“The underlying cause for all of this, of course: Young black men growing up without fathers,” he argued. “Unfortunately, no one in the news media has the courage to touch that subject.”

Within a few hours, Bergin was suspended, pending a possible dismissal. But he said in a statement to Breitbart News: "It is depraved to place hurt feelings over the lives of young black men. There is way too much emphasis on guarding peoples feelings rather than pointing at the blindingly obvious and saying there's a reason young black men are slaughtering one another in the f***ing streets. Why are THEY doing it. And the Korean kids aren't?”

No one at Channel 12 is talking, but Bergin’s Facebook page is full of new friends and laudatory comments, especially from cops.

The reporter should get a promotion and a raise.

It's the same where I volunteer at schools ... everyone is afraid to speak the truth ... that the poor black kids are most of the time raised without a father or father figure in their life. If you say something along those lines, that their home life in a big part of their academic failure and/or truancy and/or drug involvement then you're seen as a racist. I guess the truth hurts .. and those who lash out 99% of the time are other blacks.

I say move to the rich areas, minimize tax obligations to starve the system, then have a rural get away somewhere. They can all go to hell, as far as I'm concerned. Bloods threaten to kill more cops

The Bloods have vowed to kill more Jersey City cops to avenge the thug the police shot dead this week after he executed a rookie officer, The Post has learned.

The violent street gang has threatened to “kill a Jersey City cop and not stop until the National Guard is called out,” a senior law enforcement source revealed.

Police are even being warned that violent Bloods gang members may be traveling from out of state to target officers in New Jersey, according to an internal New Jersey State Police advisory obtained by The Post.

“New Jersey State Police has received credible information from the Jersey City Police Department about specific threats toward Jersey City police officers and law enforcement,” the advisory read.

“The United Blood Nation may take retaliatory action against police officers.”

The PA advisory cautioned that officers should remain vigilant and be aware of “the potential for Bloods traveling into Jersey City.”

In addition to the Port Authority advisory, a statewide alert has been issued to police officers, a senior law enforcement official said Tuesday.

“It was an officer safety awareness” advisory “telling cops to be careful and to wear their vests and take the threat seriously,” the official said.

Cops throughout New Jersey have been warned to use extra caution due to the threatened retaliation, which follows three police-involved shootings in the city.

The gang threat was made in direct response to the fatal Jersey City police shooting of Lawrence Campbell moments after he ambushed Officer Melvin Santiago in a Walgreens parking lot early Sunday.

Santiago had been responding to an armed robbery at the 24-hour drugstore when Campbell unleashed a barrage of bullets, leaving 13 holes across the patrol car’s windshield.

Santiago, 23, was shot in the head.

His partner dodged the bullets and returned fire, killing Campbell.

It was not clear Tuesday if Campbell, 27, was a member of the Bloods.

The tip about the threat came from a credible source who has provided valuable information about gang activities in the past, authorities said.
