As for the Iraqi govenrment, they have already proposed an amnesty for insurgents, even those who killed US troops. But they want the right to prosecute US troops? Unbelievable.

I don't think it's accurate to blame the invasion for the defendants' behavior, for one reason because it is the rare exception not the norm. Certainly however all the violence and killing and provocations from the Iraqis could push some over the edge. And I have to agree that the way these troops have been used puts them under enormous strain and the justification for it must seem dubious to a lot of them.

yes, but i wasnt there and cannot concieve what it must be like for your mental health...the guy apparently had shown already propensity for violent acts so maybe it is in his blood to rape and murder but the strain must be so umbearable that even a normal soul could be pushed to commit atrocities....bush admn takes part of the blame fair and square for startin' a war its soldiers cannot comprehend.
 
This sort of stuff occurs in the military at a much lesser rate than it does in the general population even though all military is comprised of the same general population.

Unfortunate though as it may be.
