Just a glimpse into what will happen in dark times...

Quote from Tsing Tao:

That's the beauty of predicting just about anything without a time limit.

But I'll go so far as to say the really really bad will happen before the really really good :) We're trending down, not up.
You can be wrong your entire life, predicting catastrophe, but should it come in your lifetime you can say, "I've been calling it for years!" But if you die first, no one cares or even remembers. The latter will be Ron Paul's fate.

Quote from achilles28:

Doomsday Prepping is actually a good idea, considering America will do Greece in about 4 years. At which point, all the EBT cards (and other handouts) will grind to a screeching halt. It's funny and well-deserved, but also extremely dangerous. City folk will kill themselves and everyone around them, as they get flushed down the toilet. Time to get out?

Yes, as posted above, I'm considering leaving FL for CO or TN. Maybe TX.

Ron Paul can be content that he started a movement towards smaller government and greater liberty, and that he will be remembered as such. I am pretty confident that, 40 or so years from now, people will remember Ron Paul in a way that would make him proud.

I cannot say the same for Barack Obama. And that, is fucking awesome justice.

Please show me the link where Scat said "the more inequality the better". I'd like to get the context, that is, if it actually was even said.

Yes, I said it.

The context... "Work begets success". "Capital begets capital". Money invested has the potential to grow and compound.

The harder/(smarter) you work the greater your potential to accumulate capital for investment. It's the American way.

I HATE the notion of "equality"... as the only way to achieve it is by government FORCE. Each is free to pursue his own path and goals. Success to the successful.

We already bend over backwards in our attempts to unjustifiably reward and "grant special opportunities" to minorities*. That's wrong. Affirmative Action is wrong.

Earn your own way or perish!!

*Last Friday, saw a video clip... which highlighted "racial preference" in college admission at U. of Michigan... where "simply being of a minority race" you were awarded MORE admission points than a white applicant with PERFECT SAT SCORES! How sick is THAT??

Thank you for the context. Ricter's indirect quoting of you leads one to believe a completely different context. Surprise.

He's adding the context now. His actual statement in its entirety:

Quote from Scataphagos:

There is SUPPOSED to be "increasing disparity of wealth"... that's what should motivate the have-nots to become haves. It's the American Way.

Ok, that's fair, but even there I can tell that what he's saying is that when some people have more than others, the have-nots are inspired to work harder to get what they do not have.

Of course, it doesn't work this way in the real world when entitlements ruin the equation.

Correctamundo!

When I was a kid... and before the beginnings of "the wave of entitlements"... My grandfather said, and I believed... that I didn't even deserve to EAT regularly unless I worked and made enough money to buy my own food. I started working summers at about age 7 or 8.. shining shoes at the local horse racing track. Later I mowed lawns, washed cars, shoveled snow, vacuumed neighbors' carpets, did baby sitting, collected pop bottles and cashed them in at the liquor store... to make money to buy things I wanted. My toys were a bicycle, baseball glove, basketball, chess set, about 4,000 marbles, and slot-car track. All but the chess set I bought (well, not the marbles... I won them off of other kids.) DUH!

Look what we have today and what it has done to American culture...
:(
