Jumpstart the economy? What a bunch of DILLHOLES!

Both parties are bad, but the democrats seem to instinctively go for the worst possible ideas. Like now, they want to give a rebate of several hundred dollars to everyone. What does that do, other than boost Walmart's slaes of imported chinese goods for a couple of weeks?

We have immediate problems in terms of the whole housing/mortgage/structured finance issue. We have longer term problems in terms of trade imbalances, offshoring of jobs, government fiscal imbalances, etc. Throwing money at consumers or rewarding irresponsible borrowing and consumption does nothing to address either problem.

The country would be well-served by an intelligent debate on these issues by the presidential candidates, but unfortunatley all we will get is a contest to see who is the most "compassionate."

Bernanke and Schumer say, "stimulus is needed"... The DemoCraps have a plan to "jumpstart the economy". WHAT? Are they stupid?

They all fail to recognize:
(1) The US has been on a consumer rampage for the last 25 years... spending "all we have + all we can borrow".

(2) Those willing to "live on credit at the expense of their home equity", have already done so.

(3) There are many more of us who wouldn't refi our homes to buy an SUV or take an extravagant vacation regardless of interest rates or Gummint rhetoric.

The US consumer is much like a burned-out ash. No amount of "gasoline on the fire" is going to generate a flame beyond burning the gasoline.

I'm certain the Gummint and Fed will do the "hyper-inflationary money pump" and "reduce rates to 0%" in an effort to "stimulate us out of this stagnation", but at some point it will no longer work. We're all totally spent or damned nearly so.

UP YOURS, "Jumpstart DemoCraps"!!

Oh boy a $200 tax rebate hahahahaha, this will sure get things hopping.

They can just keep mine. It's the damm political idiots in washington who are running this country into the ground.

Hey we can fight everyones wars and give tax rebates too.

Try to get it through your heads, the people running this country are far from stupid. They are not making mistakes, it's just that their goals & plans are nowhere near what yours are.

Predictable reactions like yours only help prove this point.

To be fair, he didn't say they ran it into the ground because of stupidity. I agree with you, these things happen for reasons far greater and beyond the imagination of us mere mortals. It's about REAL power.

He who controls the mob gets to loot the country on behalf of his clique and the sheeple will not allow any turning back from "debt and [widescreen] cricuses"

How's this for stimulus? Stop spending hundreds of billions overseas, and start spending it here. Oh!, and elect Ron Paul.

Military spending is over half of our tax dollars.
How about shut down the 15 military bases we have on foreign soil, wrap up these wars and dont start new ones, and get rid of the income tax at the same time which would give us a surplus to get out of debt with and turbo boost the economy. Naaaaaaaaaah, thats too radical for the stupid american public. Only the candidates who cant get elected are talking about real spending cuts.

You sure about that?

P.S. Elect Ron Paul, and we won't have these sleazebag politicians trying to run our daily lives (into the ground).
