i had a very religious grandmother that made me go to church when i was a kid. i hated it, though, so i wasn't very consistent. also, my parents were split over this. since it was my mother's mother that wanted me to go, my mother generally wanted me to go. my father is not religious, so he didn't push me to go. eventually i stopped going since i didn't have the interest and my parents didn't strongly want me to.

i will forever be thankful to my father for raising me with an open mind. never did he tell me what i should believe. he did not even suggest his own beliefs to me. now i am a free thinking adult with pretty much no baggage. i'm extremely independent on basically any subject.

here is one of the reasons i think religion bugs atheists so much. i don't want to speak for others, but it is certainly the case for me.

as i have said repeatedly, a common bad practice of religion is to get kids while they're young. the cycle repeats and you end up with religious people all over the place. just look at the world.

now, many of these people end up growing up believing what they were told is the way things should be. ALL THESE PEOPLE END UP VOTING. I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE IN MY LIFE. WHAT THEY DO AFFECTS ME.

so there are people like me who are not religious, but i am affected by what all the religious people vote for. and many of these people were never given a chance to be a free thinker.

perfect example, that judge moore. HE'S A JUDGE! that guy is like a religious extremist! you going to tell me his beliefs aren't strongly based on religion? what if i think his beliefs are bullshit?! what if i was in court and he was deciding my case??? i'd be pissed if he gave me some ruling against me that was based on some religious principle that i disagree with.

here's a great present day example of what i'm talking about. GAY MARRIAGE. i'm not gay, but i totally defend gay people on this. maybe not marriage, but there should definitely be a legal recognition for gay people. in many religions only a man and woman are to be married. kids are sent to church from age 1 to believe the bible. they grow up and don't want gay people to marry. WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW, NOW GAY PEOPLE HAVE A VERY TOUGH TIME IN THE WORLD. it's not fuckin right. if people were raised with an open mind, like me, they'd see many religious beliefs are total bullshit.

it should definitely be legal. any 2 consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want to do as long as they are not harming anyone else.

adultery is a JOKE. so is the concept of marriage. but if people want to get married, i have no problem with that.

what about bestiality?

this is similar to a personal decision to eat meat or not. i choose not to eat meat, but i wouldn't say eating meat should be illegal. as for bestiality, i'm not into it, it's obviously not natural, and the submissive animal probably doesn't like it. but this is a tough issue because it all depends on if animal abuse is legal or not. bestiality is animal abuse. but if you're going to say animal abuse is illegal, you better also not eat meat because that supports farms. go to a farm and see if those animals are abused.

of websites concerning republics and democracies(majority rules)...

In a REPUBLIC.....Minority individual rights are the priority. The people have natural rights instead of civil rights. The people are protected by the Bill of Rights from the majority. One vote in a jury can stop all of the majority from depriving any one of the people of his rights; this would not be so if the United States were a democracy.

In a pure democracy 51 beats 49%. In a democracy there is no such thing as a significant minority: there are no minority rights except civil rights (privileges) granted by a condescending majority.

Simply stated, a democracy is a dictatorship of the majority.

Socrates was executed by a democracy: though he harmed no one, the majority found him intolerable.


If you truly believe in "majority rules", then go live
in a democracy. But you had BETTER make sure
that you hold exactly the majority opinion in that society
or you will be fu**ed
