I don't usually trade the afternoons but today I was forced to...
What was initially a pretty decent morning almost turned into a disaster. Right after I placed one of my last trades for the day I lost my software connection. By the time I reconnected (about 2 minutes) I was down almost 2 bucks (I trade fast movers). I was really pissed because prior to that I was up about 150. This loss basically wiped out my hard earned gains and then some. Instead of getting out without thinking, I paused for a little bit and considered my options. All indexes were in a steady uptrend and pushing higher. My loser stock seemed to stabilize and slowly started to move up. I established 3 more long positions with the intent to hold as long as the market keeps grinding higher to help offset the unintended loss. Things worked out and I ended up holding all 4 positions until just minutes prior to the close.
