John Templeton RIP

Quote from vhehn:

he spent millions trying to scientifically prove a god exists. he failed but i guess by now he knows for sure.

More likely he has joined the enternal blackness that accompanies death. People who believe there is an afterlife are madder than the ones that believe in the PPT!!!!!

News Flash the end really is the END!!!

You don't know that...that's just what YOU believe!

It appears that Mr. Templeton was "a nice guy", but the fact that he dodged paying U.S. taxes on his lucrative sale of his company, by renouncing his U.S. citizenship, is unforgivable. Our country gave him the opportunity to succeed in his business, provided the infrastructure necessary to build a stable business, plus most of his customers were U.S. citizens, and the U.S. military provided his personal security in a rough world, etc. etc. The least he could have done was to pay his fair share of taxes, under the rules. I and most other decent Americans do, even though we may not like it. He had absolutely no excuse. It's a pattern that other extremely wealthy "made in the U.S.A." business people have followed, unfortunately. They all have no shame, no gratitude and no sense of responsibility.

The money he gave away went to good causes. Money paid to the government in taxes would have been pissed away. It appears you really don't know a lot about Sir John Templeton. Go read his book Discovering the Laws of Life.

Quote from Brandonf:

What taxes did he owe, he gave up his citizanship (something I could never do myself..but he did)

he used a legal loophole to avoid paying millions in taxes anyway you want to slice it thats what he did. You try giving away your tax owed instead of paying it to the IRS and see what they say?

Well I'd either end up in jail or have to hire a hell of a good lawyer. Thats ok by me though because I wouldnt give up my US Citizanship for all the money in the world. He did though, so he did not owe the taxes.
