John McCain has died

flip flop in chief. Although this was the right move, I don't know if his lemmings can handle the whiplash.
This is disappointing. It would not show any special treatment to have the flag at half staff until John McCain is laid to rest. It's common and accepted practice for all, regardless of party.
I see no political advantage in doing this, and even if there was it would be a mistake to show such disrespect. Small, petty, and decidedly not presidential. Pure chicken shit.
They say the final straw is typically something people don't see coming. This may be it.
White House flag back at full staff less than 48 hours after John McCain’s death

The White House broke protocol Monday morning by returning the American flag to full staff before the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was buried.

The flag was flown at half-staff to mark the passing Saturday of the 81-year-old McCain after a battle with brain cancer, but was flying high the following day.

President Donald Trump frequently attacked and insulted McCain, one of his sharpest Republican critics, and reportedly objected to issuing a White House statement praising the senator’s life.

Flags are typically flown at half-staff on a president’s executive order until the day of internment, which is scheduled for Sunday at the Naval Academy.

McCain will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol and Arizona State Capitol, and memorial services will be held in Phoenix and Washington.

Trump: Americans Who Died in War Are ‘Losers’ and ‘Suckers’
The president has repeatedly disparaged the intelligence of service members, and asked that wounded veterans be kept out of military parades, multiple sources tell The Atlantic.
Trump remained fixated on McCain, one of the few prominent Republicans to continue criticizing him after he won the nomination. When McCain died, in August 2018, Trump told his senior staff, according to three sources with direct knowledge of this event, “We’re not going to support that loser’s funeral,” and he became furious, according to witnesses, when he saw flags lowered to half-staff. “What the fuck are we doing that for? Guy was a fucking loser,” the president told aides. Trump was not invited to McCain’s funeral. (These sources, and others quoted in this article, spoke on condition of anonymity. The White House did not return earlier calls for comment, but Alyssa Farah, a White House spokesperson, emailed me this statement shortly after this story was posted: “This report is false. President Trump holds the military in the highest regard. He’s demonstrated his commitment to them at every turn: delivering on his promise to give our troops a much needed pay raise, increasing military spending, signing critical veterans reforms, and supporting military spouses. This has no basis in fact.”)

White House Asked Navy to Hide John McCain Warship During Trump’s Visit

The White House asked the Navy to hide a destroyer named after Senator John McCain in order to avoid having the ship appear in photographs taken while President Trump was visiting Japan this week, White House and military officials said Wednesday.

Although Navy officials insisted they did not hide the ship, the John S. McCain, they did give all of the sailors aboard the day off on Tuesday as Mr. Trump visited Yokosuka Naval Base.

Two Navy sailors, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, said that the McCain sailors were not invited to hear Mr. Trump speak that day aboard the amphibious assault ship Wasp, while sailors from other American warships at the base were.

A Navy service member based on Yokosuka said that all of the American warships in the harbor were invited to send 60 to 70 sailors to hear Mr. Trump’s address, with the exception of the McCain. When several sailors from the McCain showed up anyway, wearing their uniforms with the ship’s insignia, they were turned away, the service member said.

Navy officials approached last week by The New York Times about plans for the McCain during Mr. Trump’s visit declined to comment. But one official said on Thursday that sailors aboard the destroyer were told to hide signs that identified that warship during Mr. Trump’s visit.

At least a few service members wore round patches emblazoned with a likeness of Mr. Trump and the words “Make Aircrew Great Again” — a play on the president’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again” — on their flight suits while listening to their commander in chief speak.

Images of the patches promptly went viral. “They’re inappropriate & against regulation,” tweeted Mark Hertling, a retired three-star Army general

You're making the assumption that millions of foreign nationals did not vote in the 2016 U.S. election.

You have no proof that large numbers of illegals in states like California did not vote in the election.
