John McCain calls tea party republicans foolish and naive.

Quote from rew:

McCain is a half senile, war mongering RINO. I don't trust his judgment on anything. Remember than in 2006 Obama and all of the other senate Democrats voted against raising the debt ceiling. What we're seeing is pure political theater. Only Rand Paul has offered a bill that would actually cut spending by a significant amount. I believe he got zero sponsors. The Boehner plan does not have any real spending cuts, just reductions in planned increases in future spending, and not very big reductions at that. It's just another promise to sober up later, while opening up another bottle of vodka.

Exactly..just more bullshit for the peons to debate. Republicans turn into Democrats; Democrats turn into Republicans, etc, etc...It makes no difference as both parties are bought and paid for, which is why all of the rabid followers are left scratching their heads when one party "gasp" strays from its core "principles".

This default drama iillustrates one very important point. When push comes to shove, these politico's hate making difficult decisions. They excel at finger pointing and demagoguery. The thought of actually putting together a responsible budget is above and beyond their pay scale. That would require some actual intelligence, character and most of all some pragmatism.

Quote from Artful D0dger:

FWIW, the man who received the Nobel Prize for discovering DNA agrees with me: " In October 2007, James Watson, who shared a Nobel Prize in 1962 for discovering the structure of DNA molecules, told a British newspaper that he is “inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa” on the grounds that “all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours—whereas all the testing says not really.” Watson continued that while we would like to think that all humans are equal, “people who have to deal with black employees find this not true.”

he writes, “There is no firm reason to anticipate that the intellectual capacities of peoples geographically separated in their evolution should prove to have evolved identically. Our wanting to reserve equal powers of reason as some universal heritage of humanity will not be enough to make it so.”..

I wonder if he cited any tests he based his statement on. I think the guy simple became senile to start expressing this point of view only at his advanced age.

He got fired to for his point of view BTW. Was he right and punished for that? Who knows. I believe he would not have been fired if he had been able to support his claim with some facts.

Saul Alinsky would be proud of the Tea Party tactics. They campaigned and won with one simple message: do not spend more money than you're taking in.

These are great times in our Republic !

Rejoice !

Get real.
Turn on your BRAIN instead of blathering like a total FOOL!

You have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to the Tea Party. These people are hypocrits when it comes to spending, and they've never turned down a nice BIG GOVERNMENT CONTRACT that showed up in the form of a DoD contract going to defense companies sitting in their own backyard!

"Sixty House members backed by the Tea Party, whose opposition to federal spending helped bring on an impasse over raising the U.S. debt ceiling, represent districts that last year received $43 billion in government contracts.

In 16 of those constituencies, spending exceeded $1 billion each -- more than twice the median amount for all House districts, Bloomberg Government reported today.

“People don’t like federal spending in the aggregate, but when it’s back home where you’re spending the money, that’s a different story,” said Charles J. Finocchiaro, a political scientist at the University of South Carolina, in Columbia, in an interview. The state is home to two House Tea Party Caucus members and Republican Governor Nikki Haley, elected last November with the movement’s support.

The strictest Tea Party adherents had opposed House Speaker John Boehner’s plan for a debt-limit increase before the Aug. 2 deadline. The House passed the plan 218-210, about 24 hours after Boehner postponed an initial vote to line up more supporters. Twenty-two Republicans joined 188 Democrats in opposition.

Of the 60 Tea Party caucus members, nine voted no and 51 voted yes. Two of the 16 whose districts received more than $1 billion in U.S. contracts voted no; 14 voted to support Boehner’s plan."

Quote from Free Thinker:

McCain said this goal is utterly unrealistic given Democratic control of the Senate. A balanced-budget amendment would need the support of 20 members of the Senate Democratic Caucus to pass.

True.

And if someone here actually thinks that 2/3rds of BOTH the House and the Senate would support a "balanced-budget amendment" . . . I've got a bridge I'd like to sell them down in Arizona!

:D

You're joking, right? There's a litany of facts. People get fired for citing those facts, not for avoiding them. People GET jobs by avoiding them. People are threatened with their jobs for citing the facts.

Fired for his point of view? LOL! Well, at least we aren't burning them at the stake anymore for saying the world is round... so I guess we've at least made some progress...

what's the evidence that backs his point of view? i guess he did not present any. he is a scientist. he should have had the hard facts to back his very interesting claim.

the dude is an idiot. he opened his mouth for something he was not able to back up with facts. naturally, he got fired. i call him stupid for not anticipating the obvious consequence of his remark.

Of course he did, there is volumes of evidence. The discussion in which he made the remark wasn't a presentation the genetic conferral of cognitive ability, so it would have been out of place. There is ample evidence, however. Further he didn't experience any meaningful consequences. We're talking about the guy who discovered DNA, a Nobel Laureate. A few cancelled talks don't rain on his parade. This is one of the most prominent scientists in recent history.

Just because the majority of congressmen are corrupted garbage it doen't mean that balanced budget amendment is the wrong thing to pursue.
Now it's the time to expose those thieving croocks of congress and vote them out next time around.

Retires... :) . What a fool!

McCain has always been a sell out.

Someone should ask him his feelings on HR 1981 - it just passed the Reupblican-controlled House Judiciary committee. It's a pretty crazy day when Maxine Waters is the Rep standing up for privacy and individual liberty...
