Women of Senate lead call for Franken to quit as number of sex allegations grow

Too bad that the Lion of the Senate, Ted Kennedy, is not still there to provide some leadership and make sure that Franken is expelled.

Looks like Franken is going to make an announcement later today. Bets are he is resigning after 6 female Senators demanded he resign.

I think pushing him out for the minor misbehavior he has demonstrated is a bit much. He should apologize properly and be reprimanded. IMO in his case the "punishment" in his case is over the top. That's my 2 cents.

If I was advising Franken I'd tell him to wait until next week. Moore wins and that will eat up the news cycle. Sweat it out, throw himself at the alter of asking for forgiveness and move on. Moore loses and he's out of options.

That's probably why the dems want him out today. They'll call it precedent when Moore wins.

Yeh, one of the problems in dealing with this kind of issue is that the Constitution does not provide for any process to recall a Senator. If it did, he would be within his rights to just say "I am staying but will of course abide by the outcome of the recall- period- so FU senators, I don't care what you think because this is between me and the people of Minnesota."

I do think though that the dems who are thinking that if they can toss or drive out Franken that that gives them precedent/bitching rights to drive out Moore. Because the Constitution does not have a recall process for senators, it gives the Senate the power to expel not only to get rid or people who are a problem in the senate but to protect the people from the state he represents who would otherwise have no way of getting rid of him if it turns out he is monster after he is elected. But that is tough argument to apply to a senator who was elected by people who had full knowledge of his bad behavior and stills said that he was their choice. It was not the intent of Framers to have the Senate replace informed voters with their opinion of who would be better. To not seat that senator or to try to remove him is absolutely at odds with the constitutional power of a state to have their duly elected representatives seated.

Moore and Franken situations are similar on the surface but big, big constitutional differences underneath. AS MANY ARE ABOUT TO FIND OUT.

I interrupt this thread to give you your Daily Franken Report.

Since this is a daily thing now, I might have to start doing roboposts like the lefties do.

The left is going all in on this. Seems like a lot for them to sacrifice until you think about what they're really after. The brass ring is Trump. They will sacrifice many of their fellows, especially in seats where they stand to lose nothing as other democrats will replace those tossed out. They're playing the long game here, knowing that the collusion charge has all but been left for dead, obstruction will go the same way, but the hope for some sexual assault charge against Trump still gives them something to live for.

The amazing chutzpah of Conyers... unbelievable.

On the way out having resigned in disgrace Conyers basically tried to insist that his thug son take his seat and that his professional "legacy" will remain "undiminished" by his resignation or the perverse acts that lead up to it.

Thats a wheelbarrow full of balls right there... man.
