Mr. Bolton got into a tense exchange on July 10 with Gordon D. Sondland, the Trump donor turned ambassador to the European Union, who was working with Rudolph W. Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer, to press Ukraine to investigate Democrats, according to three people who heard the testimony.
The aide, Fiona Hill, testified that Mr. Bolton told her to notify the chief lawyer for the National Security Council about a rogue effort by Mr. Sondland, Mr. Giuliani and Mick Mulvaney, the acting White House chief of staff, according to the people familiar with the testimony.

Bolton is a mixed bag. He has baggage but he is also so off-the-charts happy over Trump knocking General Butcher off that he is likely to give Trump a big wet kiss the next time he sees him.
Bolton wants to return to a conservative think tank and the fox news type circuit. He may diss trump to counterpunch him a bit for firing him but it is not to his long term advantage to become a key player in bringing Trump down. That will not work for him in the circles where he travels and wants to continue to travel. And even if that is not correct, and to your point, anyone attempting to use him needs be aware that he is unpredictable. People assume he is pissed and he is, but he thinks that Trump is not tough enough on lefties and terrorists so a good part of his psyche does not want them using him.
Yep, I found it interesting that as soon as SoleUnSurvivor was taken out, that Bolton said "Hey, I can testify----if asked."
