John Arnold and the death benefit

Quote from Spike Trader:

were you meaning to ask ''How does the Kochs have anything to do with it'' ?

Were you meaning to ask him if he meant to ask "How do the Kochs have anything to do with it"?

Spike Trader deletes his post in angst. :(

It's OK, I snapped it before he did. Stupidity revealed to all. If there is one thing online forums have taught me it's this: If you're going to refer to someone as stupid, then make damn sure you don't do it with bad grammar or spelling.

Quote from PiggyBank:

1) he donated to head start, but it was still a very generous thing to do and makes him a good dude.

2) this isn't the subversion of democracy, this is how it works. House reps were voted in to get control of spending, which perpetually kicking the can via CR doesn't accomplish.

3) how is it even possible that paying our troops is not considered mandatory? seriously how can 83% of the fed govt still be operational, but our vets and their families can't get their benefits? There are legions of bureaucrats occupying hundreds of agencies whose pay and benefits could have been cut instead, and there's congress.

4) on obamas orders, the administration got these death benefits covered today, so why didn't he do this right away? Could it be he didn't give one fuck as long as he could blame it on republicans:

"I am offended, outraged, and embarrassed that the government shutdown had prevented the Department of Defense from fulfilling this most sacred responsibility in a timely manner," Hagel said.

"In the days before the shutdown, we warned Congress and the American people that (the Defense Department) would not have the legal authority to make these payments during a lapse in appropriations."

President Barack Obama ordered administration officials on Wednesday to find an immediate solution.

"The president was very disturbed to learn of this problem, and he directed the Department of Defense to work with the Office of Management and Budget and his lawyers to develop a possible solution, and he expects this to be fixed today," White House spokesman Jay Carney said...

...It's unclear exactly when Obama learned of the situation, which reporters were briefed about four days before the shutdown began. At the briefing Wednesday, Carney refused to say when the president learned benefits were being delayed.

"I don't know specifically," he said.

Arnold gave $10MM for the death benefits and donated to Head Start.

The GOP are responsible for the shutdown, so they're responsible for this. Boehner ordered the gym and pool to remain open, however. That's important.

I'm not a lib, but find the GOP more objectionable than the left. That consanguineous Farenthold stating Obama isn't legit when he's actively campaigning for Cruz. Fiction has to make sense. Thats another issue entirely, but I can't support such BS.

I did not refer to him as stupid , i merely asked him to clarify what he meant.

Now you think I'm stupid. You know exactly what he meant. You tried to point out that he had a spelling/grammar error and screwed it up.

Sorry, bro. Both parties are "responsible for the shut down." Negotiation is a thing of the past. Both parties want their own way and nothing else. At the head of it all is the "Great Uniter" himself with "I will not negotiate."

As for the death benefits, the house unanimously passed a bill to fund them at 100%. If it was so important, why won't the Senate and President sign onto it?

Or perhaps you are ok with funding a CR indefinitely, with never a cost cutting exercise to slow the speeding train?

No , i tried to point him towards what ''pony up '' means.

You can't use extortion. Obamacare is law. Maybe I would think differently if I didn't have private healthcare, but I believe that universal healthcare is an obligation -- and it's a tenet of the GOP from the Reagan admin. I have said it before that I canvassed for Ron Paul and have no fondness for the current admin.

oops, gotta trade. Good day to be long.
