Dems are playing a semi-smart game- (although losing overall) in this crockulus bill scenario.
Bernie still pushing for 6 trillion, yeh, okay, Comrade. Free rations for all the Bolsheviks.
Anyway back to my original point: Two weeks ago, the dems were are 3.5 trillion and now we are 2.0 or below. So the dems, one week ago, start talking about funding some programs for 5 years rather than 10. Okay, so far so good, they have to do what they gotta do.
But this week, I notice that they are taking select items- such as the child care credit and are suddenly willing to go down to 1-2 years - whereas previously it was identified as one of the core programs that they wanted to institute permanently- "so let's at least nail that down for the long term" kind of strategy.
So why drop all the way down to 1-2 then rather than 5 or so?
Answer: They are cherry picking the items that they want to run on in midterms and the 2024 and want them to be up for renewal or not as part of those elections or on the horizon anyway. If you go out to five years it will not be sufficiently urgent for their free stuff base.
Smart I guess if it is all about being a political hack as it is for the dem plantation overlords, but otherwise, it is a hell of way to run a country. You create a sea of all these short term programs so that the country is always on the brink of some kind of fiscal or program cliff. As if we do not have enough of that already.
Just as a little side entertainment, y'all may have heard that yesterday Manchin and Bernie, allegedly, had a crisp and prickly discussion where they both agreed that "zero could be a good number."
That's good shiite right theya.
