Joe Arpaio running for Senate

Hopefully he wins the primary!

Why?

First I doubt that Joe Arpaio is the Republican party choice in the state to be the Senate candidate. The party would prefer someone more moderate IMO.

Second Joe Arpaio as a Senate candidate would greatly increase the voter turn-out in non-rural areas of Arizona. Remember this includes the suburbs that also tend to strongly support him.

Inversely it would also empower and increase the Democratic turnout in Arizona in the general election. However the Democratic stronghold are localized to the urban areas of the state which are not greatly sizeable. It is not like Arizona has a city the size of New York, Chicago, or LA in the middle of it.

We will see what the polling and other information reveals in the upcoming week; however if Joe Arpaio wins the Republican nomination then he may very well be the new Arizona senator. I am sure that this is not something the Democrats want.

Better to have these kind of open filth in public to point to rather than covert racists representing your party. Conservatism is now what Goldwater warned it would be if the idiots were unleashed to the front, now it's about seeing how deep the hole goes when it comes to decency and morality.

The amount of human rights abuse under his watch that'd be exposed would ensure a Moore-like outcome... Except with more Hispanics.

Such as making prisoners wear pink and not letting them watch HBO on tv?
The horror! Such harsh human rights abuses for murderers and rapists.

A new poll suggests Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's popularity has taken a hit in recent years, even as his fans continue to funnel millions of dollars to Arpaio's re-election effort.

The latest public opinion poll on the perennial, but now embattled, sheriff shows 38 percent of respondents rated Arpaio's job performance as "excellent/good," according to pollsters from the Phoenix-based Behavior Research Center.

Trump only won Arizona by 3.5 points. This race might be close with whoever the GOP nominee is but Arpaio would certainly make it easier.
