Congress and the press raised a furor over the failed mission. Having opposed Operation Eagle Claw from the first, Secretary of State Vance resigned out of principle. The administration prevailed on a reluctant Beckwith to hold a press conference and dispel rumors that President Carter had lost his nerve and aborted the mission at the last minute. Since the publicity rendered him unable to continue as Delta Force leader, Charles Beckwith, a true American hero, ended his long and distinguished military career soon thereafter

Did this moron ever think of maybe using two bases in Iran spread widely apart and 16 helicopters? Ah duh - it is the desert after all and they have sand storms.

Here's a few debacles - Bay of Pigs; that prison they tried to raid in North Vietnam, My Lai, Mayaguez, Pueblo, Desert One, not being able to find the students in Grenada, the Vincennes, that spy plane the Chinese took from us, Mogadishu, Tillman, the Iraq civilian massacres, Agu Ghraib. We lose or look bad.

What do you rah rah boys really think these Presidents say in private - - "oh shucks, support the troops"? LOL, They're fken pissed I'd bet. You think Bush prayed for Lyndi England when he saw her pics in the paper?

Other than Gulf 1 and knocking down Panama, it's been one operational or PR disaster after another.

Jeeze dude, no wonder you don't get it. You're all over the map here. Differing reasons/culptits for failure, and it's all the military's undermining sitting presidents. Ooooooookay........

Carry on with your fantasy world view of the military.

PS, go back on your schizophrenia medication

Have a nice evening...

Again, follow your own recommendations and do some basic research,

Qualified pilots were scarce, and the equipment wasn't suitable to the environment.

So how in your world would sending in even more barely qualified teams increase the chances of success. Hint - it doesn't, it only increases the complexity - which was already excessive - and chances of failure and lost lives.....

Carter got screwed by US military losers at Desert One or whatever it was called.

Gave them one thing to do and they blew it - failing their country and those hostages.

Simple as that.
Notice how its NEVER a democratic presidents fault when in office, but EVERYTHING is Bush's fault???
To the left: Please take off your blindfold's now. Seek and you shall find truth and peace.

Wow - what an overnight session. Asia higher. Europe ripping, YM +49. Course you rah rah boys that hang around here don't trade. :D No matter.

The military losers have let down most all presidents. Because they are unreliable or choke in the clutch they undermine the president and the use of force in policy. In the first Republican debate last month, Chris Matthews, a speech writer for Carter, was in the Air Force One doing a bit about how the hostage failure took Carter down. This isn't rocket science - they got a mission of vital importance and they blew it. Then the cockroaches had the audacity to blame it on equipment.

The same military losers took down George Bush by failing in Iraq. This war is lost - probably at Abu Ghraib. Bush will go down as one of the worst over Iraq because the military couldn't deliver anything we can grasp onto as a "victory". They caused incredible damage to Reagan also with the Vincennes blunder. Ever see that video of those cheering Navy mongoloids on the bridge of that ship? I'm sure that commander collected his pension too.

Try to think of how W would be viewed, or where the Republican Party would be now, if Iraq had gone well. What if the military plan for Iraq had worked like it did for his father?

This rah rah boy trades, and does it quite well actually. Thanks for your concern.
If cheering Carter on makes your day, then so be it! Good trading to you. Cheers. J

He's OBVIOUSLY trolling here -
