Former US President Jimmy Carter will begin receiving hospice care, according to a statement from The Carter Center on Saturday.

“After a series of short hospital stays, former US President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention. He has the full support of his family and his medical team,” the statement said.

Carter turned 98 years old last year.

The cancer of the liver that he had back in 2015 was tough on him. He fought hard to survive it...many thought he was going to die back then.

One the things that was good about America - and still is in some places- that Carter exhibited- was just the basic ability to be a good neighbor- to live down the road and not be obnoxious while doing it. Not sure why that is so hard these days for some people. So many Karens, social activists, and hustlers of various sorts pre-prepared to be outraged and think their opinion needs to be heard or acted upon. Just take care of your livestock, water your garden, do what your dog tells you to do, keep your roof from leaking, fix your elderly neighbors leaking faucets, and shut your hole.

The other thing- and this goes with being a good neighbor in the old days- is that Carter always had a barn and a shed with lots of tools in them:cool: and he knew how to use them. If you were building a shed or garden house and were having trouble figuring out how to cut/calculate the angle of the dangle of your roof rafters, he could do it.

And of course through his work with Habitat for Humanity those qualities got magnified a bit, which is/was for the good.
