Jesus Christ born this day

Quote from Wallet:

Regardless of reason I know what's real to me, and that nothing can shake.

Just curious as to your beliefs, do you consider yourself atheistic, agnostic, theist would be off the shelf I assume.

Not an attack, you respond to many of these threads, just would like to know your personal beliefs.

The Faith to believe is not natural for man.......
...then thank goodness. Otherwise in all reason no man would know that Faith is not truth.

1 Corinthians 2:14

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

sounds like something bernie madoff might have said. con men need to make their marks think they are missing out on something.

I think you got it backwards.
As evidenced by societies over the years to put their faith in anything from a giant lizard to a burnt slice of toast.

Quote from Mom0/pH0x:

Actually, nearly all serious academics who have looked into the issue concur that christ was NOT born on dec 25, or even in the winter time for that matter....

The celebration of Christ's birth in the the early church

In the first 200 years of Christian history, no mention is made of the calendar date of Jesus' birth. Not until the year 336 do we find the first mention of a celebration of His birth.

Why this omission? In the case of the Church fathers, the reason is that, during the three centuries after Christ's life on earth, the event considered most worthy of commemoration was the date of His death. In comparison, the date of His birth was considered insignificant. As the Encyclopedia Americana explains, "Christmas... was, according to many authorities, not celebrated in the first centuries of the Christian church, as the Christian usage in general was to celebrate the death of remarkable persons rather than their birth..." (1944 edition, "Christmas").
