I’m running out of posts answering your personal questions. However, there may be some political value in my answer.

I have never been dumped over politics. My new girlfriend is a young, Black, lower middle class woman who would be considered Liberal. My girlfriend finished high school with strong grades and has a solid job history. She has thoughts of getting a degree, but is concerned over education costs. She supported Obama and Hillary, but did not actually vote in 2016. She knows I’m a Trump supporter and we have discussed politics at a mostly basic level. She has parroted some of the dumber Leftist ideals and is happy Oprah is not interested in politics. The emotional impact of politics on my girlfriend seems less than mine.

I do not see differences in who we support politically as having a direct effect on our relationship. However, the differences in our personalities and belief systems that may at least partly account for who we support politically could adversely affect our relationship. Indeed, we are not connecting all that well and we have not reached a level of trust with each other that would allow us to become more than friends. There is a good possibility I will be dating someone else during the holidays.

My impressions are her beliefs were mostly molded by social media and TV news. She is rarely able to support her beliefs beyond the sound bite level. She it not dumb, rather she tends to not critically evaluate what she watches or hears.
