Perseverence is a double-edged sword. I have always been like a dog with a bone when I think I am on to something. Sometimes though, it probably takes the bigger person to accept when something isn't working and it is time to move on.
 
Hey Jasper regarding Ensign's Parabolic SAR, try speeding it up for example using 20 Maximum and 20 acceleration as the parameters. I was playing around with the acceleration parameter in Ensign and the result was quite interesting. :)

Jasper I am not sure what your settings are because when I use 20/20 for maximum and acceleration in Ensign my R60 chart on ER2 shows W32, L18, P35.80 for yesterdays trading up to the current time.

ps. In reality, I trade the 100 Range for er2, not 60.

No, I haven't backtested. Would need more data for that . Haven't looked into what it would take to purchase data that can then be charted in range bar fashion. Ensign seems to have the capabilities, but I haven't explored them much.

I like your very simple system. I have a similar one I've been trading off/on using Point Break (or Line Break) Charts.

I have found that backtesting the past 2 months (~250 signals), I can significantly optimize the profit per contract by applying 2 simple filters - 1) not trading from ~10:30-12:30 CST and 2) only taking trades where the previous trend lasted a medium-term length of time (for example if previous trend was between 15 and 75 mins. trade the new reversal signal). If it was shorter or longer, don't trade. Perhaps if you backtest you will find similar results? I may be over optimizing my system but these 2 filters make sense.

Finally, do you know if the volatility indicator you are using is available anywhere on eSignal? I'd like to play with it a bit but can't find it. Does it sometimes go by other names? Thanks.

I used to have an ESignal data feed, but never used their charting. I used it to drive Ensign. I would think they would have a Volatility Stop indicator. I haven't heard it referred to by a different name, however.

I spent quite a bit of time on my charts today. I have re-vamped some of my parameters as a result. Tomorrow, I am going to be using an 8 tick range chart with a volatility stop set at 15, 4 and a 4 tick range chart set to 15, 1.

The interesting thing with range charts is that they have a constant ATR. As such, it doesn't matter what the first parameter is set to. It also draws a pleasing and smooth stop making it easier to watch day in and day out.

The 8 tick chart looks like it works well with intraday position trading. The 4 tick chart I am watching for a possible scalping methodology.

I know that changing things around is probably a bad idea, but I need to find a chart and indicator combination that is robust. This has been a problem of mine - the endless tweaking of parameters.

Thanks for the tip on time and the previous trend time. I have found that the first two hours of the day are the most fruitful. Often, I would have been well-served to quit at 11:30 EST.
