jasinhbca's quest for discipline, knowledge & profits

Agreed. Slow and steady. And yes, not getting too excited over one days results. Still need much focus on me.

Decided not going to trade tomorrow. Slipping into vacation mode. Will watch for a bit.

This is interesting , I think. Last couple weeks I noticed at times I was making some fearful, emotional exits. It felt out of character because I thought I had done a good job moving past that much more than what was happening. Last thursday something in me said 'caffeine'.

I've mentioned before , either here or in yukoners journal, that I've noticed caffeine make me a little tense. Subtle but noticeable to me. So, I had switched to mixing half (or less) regular beans with decaf beans. Low caf coffee with good flavor. Problem solved. Anyway, the beans were stored at work in a container mixed up by my partner for the 50/50 blend. I looked at the source bags; dark roast and light roast. Not decaf. Ah -ha ! Friday, I drank green tea.

Love green tea

Sounds like a good plan J

btw - upon returning..., please consider SIM for a day or two - just to get back in the swing of things

Travel safe Sir..., and enjoy :)

Before learning to "run"..., let's get walking consistently - down (cart before horse does not work except to go backwards)

@Redneck Since the above was posted after my post, I'm assuming that it was an indirect response to it.

I know that you put in some of your valued time into guiding @jas_in_hbca and my post, however relevant, may not have come at an appropriate time. My apologies if it served as a derailment to Jas's progress.

there is more than one way to "run" effectively

I know from my stats of valid trades when managed perfectly that a 25 tick target performs very, very well. So I do go into this lower target with the idea in mind that perhaps the best solution is just better discipline and same 25 target.

@jas_in_hbca I think you are very aware of the "discipline" factor and for most days tend to contain it quite well. IMHO, I think reading PA is what will primarily allow you to decide what your target is for a trade. That coupled with discipline should make for a better bottom line.

Over the last few posts, you had posted your results, which showed that some trades reached the 25 target. Post trading, analyse and read the PA that allowed those trades to reach that target and it may help you differentiate the action in real time, which in turn may help you make an educated decision of what target to choose.

I think we're all in agreement that that's the best course for now.

As @moonmist has stated "IMHO, we need to adapt, and take smaller profits now."

Perhaps, we can revisit this topic again. My current thinking is that a scale out strategy would be the best way to capture bigger targets.

That will be your decision and I am sure that @Redneck will guide you along as well. You are a lucky guy to have people like @Handle123 @NoDoji @Redneck etc supporting your path to success. However, it is not surprising, as you put in the work required.

I think it's important to add the above. Otherwise, we run the risk of over-analyzing, second-guessing, and generally ending up underperforming our probability-based plan much like the Yale students who were outdone by rats.

Alpha,

No Sir..., not at all (so much is lost when on the net..., and not face to face)

I'm likely being overly conservative..., protective..., motherly (LOL)

Just trying to ensure he remains level headed

===============

He absolutely deserves the kudos.., and encouragement - from all of us

Worked his ass off

But I'm sure you know how tenuous it is when first getting there..., and how like quick silver..., can easily slip from our grasp with an inadvertent misstep

I told J awhile back - I'm his wall and won't let him step backwards

Just doin what I told him I would Sir ;) :)

And it goes without saying; All help..., input..., feedback..., thoughts..., insight..., Are Very Much Welcomed

Between us all - including the "silent ones" assisting via PM (and no I don't know who..., but the results of your efforts are quite clear)

J has a wealth of experience to draw upon

Just trying to ensure he remains level headed

A very important factor at this stage and so the protection is understood.

OH YES!!!

The determination and generosity of your guidance is commendable RN

Traders Creedo
This is my Method. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my Method is useless. Without my Method, I am random and useless. I must execute my Method true in accordance with My Plan.

I must follow it much stricter, than I would be concerned about the market forces which are attempting to stop me out. I must focus on executing and reaching my target objectives before I am stopped out. I will. My Method and I know that what counts in trading is not the number of trades we execute, the noise of the HTF’s, or the confusion we make for ourselves. We know that it is the "Consistency of My Actions" that counts. I will be Consistent.

My Method is not human, even as I am human, because it is my trading life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother, a friend, and as a mentor. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its component parts, its technical and mental analysis tools, its Setups and it’s Triggers. I will keep my Method simple, clean, efficacious, and ready, even as I am ready. We will become part of each other.

Before the Trading Gods I swear this Creed. My Method and I are the defenders of my trading equity and the providers of my trading profits. We are the masters of our markets. We are the financial saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is mine, and I am no longer my own worst enemy.

Use and Enjoy......Hope this helps

You traders are great ! Your guidance and concerns for my progress and the respect shown to each other really put a smile on my face ! Thank you ! :)

Easing back in to it after a great trip. No trading yesterday. SIM today +11 ticks. 15 tick targets left a lot on the table. No worries. I suspect it will evolve into a scale out strategy. Important thing today was I traded patiently and properly.

Done for the day. Busy week. dog to vet today, catch up at work, plumber Friday...
