You raise a good point. Even the academics who put together this data believe it certainly under-estimates african intelligence.

However, Africans are at the bottom of IQ regardless of where they are. Twin studies, adoption studies, etc have all been done. I have written about this more extensively here before so I do not care to repeat myself. However, If you are a free thinker and do want to become informed, the data (mountains of it) is all available.

I currently live downtown Chicago, yet I still read the local paper in the town I grew up.

In all my time growing up, I never heard or read about a single murder in the area. Recently, there was a rape/home invasion/robbery. A mother was raped and had her head blown off during a home invasion. The perps? Haitian refuge savages. This is a simple anecdotal story yet in this case it is consistent with the statistical facts (just read the link I posted about NYC crime).

Folks, 3rd world america will see the quality of life fall to, well, 3rd world america. We get glimpses of it on the news, when a disaster hits a part of what is, "third world America". Wake up! America did not used to be this way.

Yes, you are not wrong about the basic fact, but they are at the bottom because of their lack of access to facilities that those who outrank them have access to (on average) such as a neighbourhood where there isn't gunfire every day and parents that offer motivation for good things (school, team sports).

It's all environment. Put your fancy white man in a ghetto and he will score below his white peers also (oh wait, I forgot, he DOES! Whites from poor neighbourhood score about equal to blacks from poor neighbourhoods)

Locutus, I appreciate your assertions. However they all represent liberal Cant rather than reality;

Poor white children outperform wealthy black children. Black children adopted by whites are outperformed by the white children in the same family. (At the same time, adopted whites are closer in IQ to their genetic parents than they are to their adoptive parents).

Regardless: Intelligent people shape their environment. Nature CAUSES nurture which magnifies the natural advantage of more intelligent peoples. In the same way, dumb parents stunt the development of their own children. Wealthy kids get a leg up because their parents are on average SMART ENOUGH to shape the environment in a beneficial way.

Sorry, you like most of us have been lied too. The brainwashing starts very early in life, so the fact the truth is a shock is not surprising. It certainly was to me.

Having lived in Asia for some time, it should be noted that by most Americans' definition, north-east Asians would be considered incredibly racist. I argue that they are not racist, but in fact very racially aware, and not at all shy about vocalizing simple observations. I was told countless times that I am much better looking than 'them', but that 'they' are more intelligent. No harm was meant, and to them it was no different than telling someone they have a pimple on their nose (something you can also expect to hear frequently in Asia); just a simple observation.

Also, intelligence is certainly not analogous with knowledge, but it is also not analogous with capacity to learn. To say that someone is intelligent, implies that the person has already achieved an expected level of learning. It would take me on the order of a month of intense study to learn everything that the African bushman knows. Conversely, it would take him decades of intense study to learn everything that I know. Am I then more intelligent?. Yes... That is not to say that he couldn't have excelled given the same environment, but he didn't, and in life all environments aren't the same. And natural selection might effectively breed out certain genetic linked intellectual traits, if they aren't useful over time.

I grew up under the premise of "we're all the same". A color-blind, anti-racist upbringing. This was in the mid-west where it was white people, black people, and rare "exotics" (some east-asians, sub-continental indians, etc).

I've found myself becoming more and more obsessed with racial/ethnic and cultural stereotypes as I have aged and moved into a highly diverse area (SoCal). It is interesting to see how the latin american here in CA is held with the same or greater disdain than the african american in the midwest.

At any rate, I don't believe we are all necessarily "the same". Certainly this has been dis-proven regarding the differences between male and female in our species. Women are more dexterous, have higher pain tolerance, better near-vision, and I'm sure there are a bunch more. Men have that (at least in pre-personal-ballistic-weapon era) king of superior attributes: Greater muscle mass, oh and they don't get pregnant.

I look back and I say gee I was lied to (what else is new). I also look back and realize if we weren't lied to, the results could be catastrophic. Guys just look at Rwanda, Bosnia, the American Indians, Palestine (both now and during the crusades), Cambodia, Russia, Germany, I mean the list goes on.

Mankind is marked by a greatest hits of genocidal mania. The problem is that a free thinking individual is just drowned out by the masses when someones racial, ethnic, or religious trait is scapegoated.

So it is necessary to lie. You see why we have religion, why we have police states, etc. I hate to admit it, but there are some valid points for many of the things I find to be repulsive in this socialist world run-a-muck. You claim the IQ score is high because of economic development, have you never considered it's the other way around?
Interesting fact: Ethiopia was the only country in Africa that wasn't a colony.

Since when does "intelligence" equate to "civility"? History is rife with murderous geniuses. The Japanese are by and large acting civilly in this time of crisis because Japan is by and large a civil society. Would this happen in the US? Although we are by and large a somewhat civil society, in times of duress many of us revert to opportunistic and selfish behavior, so I think not.

On a per capita basis, the Japanese opportunistic/selfish population is far less than the US. Then again, look at how the Japanese acted during their conquests in WW2, i.e. Nanking, Bataan, etc. Not very civil at all, were they? Weren't the allies accorded the "better behaved" ribbon, or was it simply because the victors write the history books?

Actually, it's been said that the IQ is higher in more densely populated areas of China. Therefore it makes sense that Hong Kong has a higher average IQ.
You said "tenfold", where do you get that number? Tenfold means 10 times as much but in reality the difference is only 7 points.
The difference between 100 and 107 is very small compared to 107 and 63 (Hong Kong and Ethiopia, respectively).
