The whole point was for a bipartisan commission to reveal the facts of the day. Biden knows that he cannot create one because it will be called bias form day one byt he GOP to discredit. Let Congress do it with equal GOP and Dems and do a fair investigation.
But to be honest, this is useless at this point because it will not acheive anything but more grandstanding from politicians on both sides making speeches. It was worth a shot but not going to happen so move on. If most trumptards think it was a tourist day and nothing bad happened then you cannot fix stupid.
True. You generally can't fix stupid.
However, they aren't being stupid in this case; they are just bullshitting. They think it's a funny thing to do. They enjoy the reaction it brings. It makes them finally feel like they control something in their lives.
Even so, they are being stupid in thinking that democracy is something that should be played with like that; and that there won't be lasting and negative consequences for years to come.
No one thinks it was a good thing to enter the Capitol armed or unarmed. Let's not place this though high on a list of trangressions against the US like 911 was, or Pearl Harbor was, or the Portland et al riots. Let's get real folks.

President Biden is being ripped for calling the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol the “worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.”
“January 6 was worse than 9/11? Or Pearl Harbor?” prominent journalist Glenn Greenwald asked of the president’s claim to Congress Wednesday night used as apparent proof that he was leading the US out of crisis.
“Or the Oklahoma City bombing? Or the dismantling of civil liberties in the name of the Cold War and War on Terror?
An attack on our democracy is not equivalent to an attack on our country.
9/11 was not attacking our system of government. Jan. 6th was.

On March 1, 1954, while Members gathered on the House Floor for an upcoming vote, three men and one woman entered the visitor’s gallery above the chamber and quietly took their seats. All four belonged to the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party and only hours earlier had traveled from New York City to Washington, DC.
The United States had annexed Puerto Rico in 1898, and the island’s relationship with the federal government had long been a point of contention. Some Puerto Ricans sought to maintain their relationship with the mainland, and others, like the four visitors in the House that day, argued for an independent Puerto Rico.
The Capitol had few security protocols at the time, and the four Puerto Rican nationalists entered the gallery armed with handguns. Around 2:30 p.m. they indiscriminately opened fire onto the House Floor and unfurled a Puerto Rican flag in a violent act of protest meant to draw attention to their demand for Puerto Rico’s immediate independence.
Five Congressmen were wounded in the shooting.
Members, House Pages, and police officers quickly helped detain three of the assailants outside the gallery, while the fourth escaped the Capitol and was apprehended later that afternoon.
