The horseshoe theory in political science stipulates that the far-left and far-right are more similar to each other in essentials than either is to the political center.

I have heard of the horseshoe theory before -- I don't really support the concept that the beliefs of the extreme left and extreme right are similar. However the behavior of their followers are similar.
