J-Trader $4.80 Round Turn

I think Pabst is absolutely right, but I do think the commission rates will continue to drop more through the basic results of broker competition...we shall see.

Thanks for the detailed info. It was very informative. I ALSO agree that X-trader is better than J-trader in terms of stability and functionality. I will never go back to J-trader.
 
I would highly suggest a person go with XTrader as a platform for any futures trading. After using JTrader I have some issues with the platform. Now maybe having JTrader non-web based is the answer and I think AF will be offering this after the first of the year. If my continued trial experience with JTrader changes my mind I will be the first to come here and tell you JTrader works GREAT...can't do that at this time. :(

Xtrader is definitely a step above, but you get what you pay for....the clearing firm rarely has anything to do with Jtrader issues. I clear through 4 different firms. Most problems occur in the initial stages (growing pains)....GHCO, RCG, RJO and Refco all have their strengths and weaknesses, but I have not seen a significant difference in these firms' ability to handle server space for Jtrader.....tell your broker what (platform and backup) you want and what you are willing to pay for....pay a fair rate...which is not always the lowest.

I think it´s really ridiculous to see JTrader advertised on every broker´s website as "the latest and greatest platform must have". Actually JTrader is priced at $525 per month or $1.00 per roundturn. Not much difference in price compared to X_Trader ($550/month with Velocity).
 
Who actually conducts the electronic routing aspects of a Emini (CME) trade while using the JTrader platform...your broker or the clearing firm? From my PC to the GLOBEX system, who "touches" a JTrader order...your broker or the clearing firm. Thanks for any info...I am doing some research, and trying to learn what REALLY takes place.

That the architecture of X-Trader is MORE DIRECT with your order, as opposed to J-Trader which "holds" your order in another architecture set-up with a server before sending it on to the exchange.
 
Does anyone have any code they've written that executes through the X-trader API? I'd be interested to see what it looks like. Can you cut out your strategy specific code and post the implementation of a basic moving average crossover system?

Where do you get your data from? Through the X-trader API or another feed?
