Itunes cd burning

On an older computer when I burned certain scratched up discs onto itunes, I would get these muted, barely discernible clicks.

Now on my new computer, these clicks become really jarring white noise blips, like bursts of static. What could account for the difference and how can I change it, if possible?

My guess is that you are using a different program to listen to the itunes or got yourself better headphones/speakers. On the PC I find RealPlayer produces better sound than Windows Media Player.

There must be a sound editing program that will clean up your files.
