These are descriptions of how Baltimore handled riots Monday night, coming from local officials and some law enforcement experts.
Assessing the streets that looked like a war zone Tuesday morning, some community leaders accused Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake of letting violence take over.
"I think it was a disaster," said Delegate Jill Carter, who represents Baltimore in Maryland's House of Delegates, the lower chamber of the state legislature.
"Too much destruction was apparently allowed to happen. I mean, if they knew in advance that this was going to happen when school let out, then I'm not sure why there wasn't some effort to go into the schools, to maybe do something to hold students longer, to do something to prevent it rather than let it happen."

Here is the proper way to treat thugs who incite a riot... hopefully they lock him up for a lengthy sentence. It is time to harshly stamp down on these criminals and make it clear that their behavior is not acceptable.

Do you seriously think the underlying problem goes away even if you will not have a single riot ever again? Are you willing to focus and pinpoint the actual wound in your society or are you actually conveniencing yourself to be sidetracked and point fingers at a few who expressed their anger in unlawful ways (and yes those individuals should be held accountable no question)? Are you willing to even debate the social injustice? I am not even talking about unequal opportunities. I am talking about gross social injustice: How nobody even touches on the issue of tax loopholes that cause losses in the billions while you cry out when you see a few kids (yes yes call them criminals if that appeases you) go on the street and burn cars. Inconvenient topic? I bet it is but if left untouched it will resurface again and again. You can conveniently call them mob/plebs or whatever you like but I think social injustice has reached so grand proportions in the US that issues like this will come back time and again to haunt your nation unless the actual problem is addressed. And the problem is: The law is not applied to each citizen in an equal way.
