What has happened is the following: the rest of the world have EVOLVED their societies - while the United States have BOGGED down theirs, and their political system with an explosion of complexing society with patches, quick-fixes and systemic bias to "create something out of nothing" - like celebrities, reality-TV, worthless newsworthiness... It has happened elsewhere as well - all feeding into the flow of the world economy.
With the advent of Internet and technology being advanced tools for other parts of the world - the "old money" got worried - and let the NEOCONS come to power - giving them the reigns to do some "upheaval" and "liberation" to realign the flow of resources and economy in the world.
It all backfired badly.

You guys are all aligned in this system of the elites - funneling and feeding it - getting a small part, your cut. But you need to understand what a sustainable system is - and what is system bias and system corruption. You need to understand sustainable development.
You might think that you are "powerless", and that you are aligned straight in this system - kept in a straight-jacket, your hands tied ... so you won't even lift a finger. Well, newsflash - you CAN actually change a system - even the two-party system of US politics. But you got to get off your fat ass to do it.
The fundamental principle for continued growth is:
