It might be funny but when they were outlawed to exist or function in society or persecuted, can they at least celebrate finally having some recognition as being human or part of society.
It is easy for you to say you dont care about it but the rest of society certainly cared.....so much so they made it a crime or allowed gay people to be kicked out of jobs or denied rights. In other words... you have to admit that was pretty horrible to treat people that way just for their sexual orientation.
You will find that most people who ask why do we have this celebration or that recognition were never denied basic human rights just for being themselves. I ma not be gay but I have fmaily members that are and they still had to jump through hoops just to get married ( go out of state) or adopt children (face more scrutiny).
I would love to get to a point where we stop celebrating firsts in 2022 or recognizing finally removal of barries. Also my life does not change just because there is a Pride Month so It does not bother me.
