First, why bring up Al Gore?
Second. Why haven't more real living people come forward to support GW's claim that he was there? Surely he interacted with someone? For goodness sakes, you would think the liquor stores and bars would have gotten to know him, if not the local cocaine dealer.
Thirdly, why is it necessary to defend GW by attacking Kerry?

ART,
That Bush National Guard story is getting embarrassing. Now the spin is how do we know someone didn't alter the records? That's why it's a mistake to even respond to these slimy accusations. No proof is ever adequate.
At least we know for sure that John Kerry spent 5 whole months in Vietnam, less even than Al Gore, got a couple of scratches that most grunts wouldn't even have noticed, used them to come home and start trashing his fellow vets, got out of the Navy 6 months early to run for congress( gosh, how many other people got that deal?) and now seems to actually think that he is immune from criticism for a 15 year voting record of supporting nutty leftwing causes.
Funny, the Democrats and media didn't extend that courtesy to Bob Dole, an authentic war hero with the crippling injuries to prove it, or Bush Sr. who as a kid had a dive bomber shot out from under him over the Pacific. As I recall, everyone was kind of embarrassed that Dole thought people might appreciate his service.
