It's November 30th - Healthcare.gov still broken

Quote from Tsing Tao:

"Oregon, once touted as a model for President Obama's health care law, signed up just 44 people for insurance through November, despite spending more than $300 million on its state-based exchange."

http://washingtonexaminer.com/orego...-despite-spending-300-million/article/2540529

44 people! LOL....I have that many coming to my Christmas party this weekend.

I have a sister and brother in law in Portland ... as liberal as it is out there you'd think they'd be flocking to sign up for Odumbocare.

Another bit of info below ... shows just another reason premiums will not decrease.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m not a U.S. Citizen. Can I buy health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace?

Only noncitizens living in the U.S. legally can buy coverage through a Health Insurance Marketplace. Undocumented immigrants are not able buy coverage in a Health Insurance Marketplace.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So we will continue to see illegals flocking to the ER for treatment driving costs higher as taxpayers get stuck paying for all this care. Why not force them to pay also? They show up at the ER with no insurance and you make them sign up there on the spot. If they refuse you send them to a "free" clinic for whatever ails them.

Think about this, and you will understand the problem. And the problem has little to do with non-citizens in the country illegally. In fact that cohort is merely the tip of an iceberg. The problem of the indigent not having access to medical care except through emergency rooms was intended to be solved by the ACA, but in fact is created all over again by the ideological hiatus between the Republican party and the Democrat party.

Let's start with reality. It is not you, not Scat, not Lucrum, not gbw-, not Tsing Tao, not Ricter, not denner, nor me that is showing up at the emergency room! And of course, you can not "force" anyone to buy insurance that has barely enough to eat. And there are virtually no "free clinics" in most of the North American Continent. Even the charity clinics, and there are few, and the care they give is as minimal as you can get, try to extract a few bucks.

The problem is entirely one of ideology. The ACA incorporated a provision for the destitute. It was the federally-paid expansion of medicaid. But 25 States, as allowed by the Court, elected to opt out of expanding medicaid to include these destitute people. And guess what., not 50%, not 95%, not even 99% of these States were States with Republican Governors. They were 100% States with Republican Governors! Now what did these Governors say was their reason for opting out? It was this: that even though the Federal Government would initially pick up the entire tab for the expansion, eventually the State would have to pay a small fraction of the cost of expansion and their State could not afford that. Now what is the reality? The reality is that it will cost those States that opted out dearly. The residents of those Sates will, through their federal income tax, be paying part of the cost of expanding medicaid in all the other 25 States. Furthermore, the damage to the States that opted out does not stop there. The States that opted out will be forgoing all the State tax revenue increase that accompanies expansion of medicaid. This revenue increase would virtually pay for all their additional cost of expanding medicaid in future years, plus more. In other words, expansion would not cost these State anything!!! They would be net beneficiaries! It is abundantly clear, to anyone that looks at this untenable situation dispassionately, that the opting out of medicaid expansion by these States with Republican Governors was 100% ideologically driven, with the sole intention of ruining Obamneycare. And what is so ironic is that Obamneycare is flawed to begin with because the Democratic administration tried to garner, unsuccessfully of course, Republican support for the ACA by adopting a flawed Republican-influenced plan.

This is beyond ironic, beyond ridiculous. It's absurd!!!

Please don't interpret anything I have written as an endorsement of the Democrat party. What I have written above is a condemnation of the Republican party and its destructive ideology, but it is certainly NOT an endorsement of our current administration.

Whereas the lack of expansion of Medicaid will cost taxpayers in those states Odumbocare is costing everyone in that everyone is being FORCED to buy a product that is not what many want or need. I feel like a broken record but why would a 50 something person want maternity coverage? Pediatric dental? Pediatric vision? Mental health?

The only people making out are those with nice substantial subsidies. Further, the indigent get free healthcare from Medicaid. Ask WHY Odumbo wants to give subsidies to a family of 4 making over $90K/year. People making that much should not get a subsidy. You can blame Republicans but Democrats continue with the mindset of spend, spend, spend and free $$$$ for everyone that they hope to get votes from now, and in the future.

Probably for much the same reason that I have to get cooking channels (which I don't want) with my cable package: technological and administrative limitations.

All that rye whiskey is obviously turning your pea brain to mush Ricter.

Piezoe - then again, could it be that many republican governors have balanced budgets and don't want to put their states back into financial ruin by taking the feds up on the financial suicide pill.

How come all the existing medical plan offerings don't require that you purchase maternity coverage, pediatric dental, pediatric vision, and/or mental health?

This may be a good time to note that requiring someone to get the Cooking, QVC, Home Shopping Network, etc. in their cable package has nothing to do with technological and administrative limitations. It is all about the Cable TV provider making MONEY.

It would be very easy for a Cable TV provider to unbundle the channels and give you EXACTLY what you want, but they are resisting the demands of consumers and government to do this - to keep their high profits rolling.

BTW - John McCain is a leader in attemplting to drive government regulation to force providers to let customers pick and choose the channels they want.

Uhh, no you have CHOICES. DirecTV, Dish, UVerse, Xfinity, Netflix, Hulu, etc. etc. All of these offer different options.

The US has been offered the exact same health insurance policy with 4 different deductibles (and premiums).

He has a brain? Don't we all have only so many brain cells? He may have exhausted his. His arguments are like swiss cheese ... so many holes in them.
