If you look state by state there are about 30 seats in state legislatures that have flipped from Democratic to Republican since Trump took office.

I believe the Democrats need to fine a moderate white male with no political baggage to run for President in 2020 if they want to win. Perhaps a governor of some state. The individual would need a solid track record as a successful administrator while still pushing progressive issues (at least ones of interest to voters - public healthcare, raising minimum wage, other domestic issues, etc.). The candidate would need to be able to absorb the typical Trump attacks and hit back at Trump's failures.

There is no room for moderate white males in the democrat party. They all got the hint and voted for Trump. The democrats have made it plan and clear that they dont want anything to do with white males unless they are homosexual or are considering having a sex change.
