Iterative Refinement

quote from ljyoung: "Quite frankly I've never particularly liked these 'trending' days. The annotation is more tricky than on those nice zig-zag M and W days".i was debriefing today and thought about what you said the other day about trending days.correct me if i am wrong but when a traverse has completed the 1-2-3 sequence and were looking for the ftt but the traverse continues to trend you have in effect repeated ftt's to fbo's. today starting around 13:20 and continuing thru the close we had repeated fbo's that could have required you to wash and reverse to get back on the correct side of the market depending on what trading resolution you trade.this i believe is the key to all trading days but especially on trending days where it seems the sequence will never end.of course they always do and that is why i need to master this procedure or trade on a larger resolution.

I think what you said is exactly correct about the repeated FBO's and correct again about the frequency of washes/reversals. For sure today was another trending day and the idea that you just hold through all this stuff is also exactly correct IF you are very sure about where you are sequence-wise. If you are not and decide to trade on a faster fractal you had best know what to look for with respect to FBO's and reversals or you will get nicely sliced and diced.

I like WGTrader's approach, as I have said before, as it allows you to make some money while you are learning this stuff.

Hey romanus what do you think about the idea that a traverse is a standard traverse, until it isn't?

I think is may be the other way around. Until we have all components required of the standard traverse - we don't have it.
E.g. today I didn't see the completion of the 2nd dom ff traverse (which would be one of the components of the standard one) because it hasn't finished the sequence. And therefore I don't see a standard traverse today being completed as well.

As sometimes happens my tongue became swollen (from overuse) and what I was trying to say came out sounding not as I intended. It is not worth trying to explain.

I didn't see completion either.
