Iterative Refinement

Quote from Spydertrader:

Assuming today's trading ended at 11:00 AM this morning (Eastern Time), the market provided three crystal clear signals - enter, reverse and exit. Today's quiz: Post the signals, when they occurred, why they occurred, and whether or not you followed them.

Market opened up and created a VE, then reversed and formed a IF-1 while the YM created an IF-2 (@9:32 bar). Therefore the 9:30 ES bar was a LTL bounce and an Outside bar (which is usually either a Pt1 or Pt3 - Pt1 in this case). Entry.

Continue down (through the Pt2 to Pt3 retrace (9:45 to 9:55) until the 10:00 bar showed decreasing red Volume indicating change coming and then the FTT/IF-1/OB at 10:05 on the ES (possible Pt1). 10:10 price opens and forms a pennant. Hold short.

Meanwhile the YM was in the grip of a lateral formation with the following scenarios: The 10:02 bar is a FBP w/ increasing black Volume (possible Pt1)= change. The :04 bar is a decreasing black volume /IBGS that ends in lateral movement=change again. The :06 bar is an increasing black, IF-2, but closes in lateral formation= change again. The :08 bar breaks the lateral formation, but on decreasing black volume and closes again in lateral movement (possible Pt2) = change again. :10 bar moves down on decreasing red volume forming lateral movement (possible retrace to RTL) = change. :12 bar continues down on increasing red volume but price retraces back to its open again forming lateral movement. Increasing red volume in lateral movement is not expected (possible Pt3 and Pt1 up). = change again. After a small retrace, the :14 bar moves up on decreasing black volume out of lateral movement. Decreasing black volume moving up and out of lateral movement is not expected so we are on the lookout again for change.

The 10:15 ES bar opens and immediately moves up (BOing FBP) on increasing black volume. The :16 YM bar confirms new up channel w/ increasing black Volume. Reverse long.

Hold position until 10:55 ES bar which forms an FTT/IF-1 bar. Additionally, this bar has increased volume with less volatility that the previous bar. The YM formed a FBP at 10:56 and the :58 bar provided IF-2, reverse short (or exit) but did so in increasing red volume which again is not expected in a up channel retrace so we expect change again.

My attempt at the quiz:

Bar 4 - ENTER short on increasing red volume

Bar 5- dec blk vol on rtl break, expect to fan

Bar 6- dom direction resumed

Bar 7- dom direction on lower volume, REVERSE

Bar 8- lateral movement, hold

Bar 9-lateral movement, hold

Bar 10-inc dom vol, hold

Bar 11- lower dom vol, EXIT

Did not trade these as I'm still only monitoring. Thank you very much for your continued particapation. All based on ES only bar closes.

But this was lateral movement. Do we expect to see LM on inc red?

Bar 11- lower dom vol, EXIT
Aahh, good 'ole lateral movement again. Do we expect to see LM on dec blk?

But I still call BS when I see it.

Hopefully, after seeing Mr_Black's recent post, you now understand how he 'scales in' then exits on the whole bunch. As such, your inability to comprehend how he traded resulted from your own limitations, and not, as you suggested, from BS eminating from Mr. Black. Hopefully, you now have the information necessary to 'cowboy up' and apologize.

Thank you for reply. Unfortunately I don't understand your point. Upon reviewing my post, I realized I was in err on this point- I would have entered on increasing PRV (not the bar end). So, for example, on bar 4, I would have enterd short on inc prv. The bar happened to close showing lateral movement. I thought that meant to hold.
