Iterative Refinement

It took me a while...okay a very long while to grasp the idea the following:

#1 change may or may not apply to my resolution.

#2 change doesn't necessarily mean a significant change in direction. Sometimes change is just a different type of price movement i.e. a lateral.

Just simple thoughts from guava.

Definitely should have pulled the trigger on SOHU yesterday. I was too wrapped up in the intraday yesterday to find an in. I worry about ins too much from an intraday basis rather than from a 3 to 4 day basis. The chart looks mighty good right now and there was a signal yesterday that lead to it hitting FRV by end of day according to Unusual Volume. Anyone got any other equities fish their looking at today.

Comments appreciated.

Here's a quiz for those interested.

When do we have permission to go look at the YM? (Name at least six scenarios. If you get seven you're a champion.)

Thanks, Spyder, for all your time and efforts.

This is going to be one of those days where I keep trading against the trend. These are always very pleasant experiences :D

If the going is long, stay long. If it's short, short. The method has provided you with the necessary means to identify turning points, so a fear of seeing the trend turn against you is irrational. In the absense of a turning point, you have to be in the trend.

You all (or you some) may find this snippet to be of interest. It is from a Spyder post in the fabled "Trend Following Delusion Shattered" thread:http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=709526&highlight=continuation#post709526

Using the following two assumptions:

If Volume is increasing, then Price will continue its trend over time.
If Volume is decreasing, then Price will change its trend over time.

I arrive at the following:

If Volume is increasing, with an increasing price, then price will continue to increase.

If Volume is increasing, with decreasing Price, then price will continue to decrease.

If Volume is decreasing, with increasing price, then price will begin to decrease.

If Volume is decreasing, with decreasing price, then price will begin to increase.

The way I read this is that Change and Continution refer to the TREND and not necessarily the price movement per se and as guavaman says this is fractal-dependent.

Hey LittleMac,

I've taken a small position in TRCR ($10.25) due to Unusual Volume, BO of downchannel and anticipated BO of lateral. I will buy more if buy volume continues to come in at FRV levels.

Chart attached.
