East Idaho is forecast to receive what the National Weather Service is calling a "powerful and cold storm" Friday afternoon through Saturday night.

The storm is expected to hit the region's mountains with snow, while the lowlands will receive rain. All of East Idaho is forecast to get hammered by destructive winds and thunderstorms as the storm barrels through the region.

Temperatures are expected to drop significantly Friday and Saturday, with the mercury likely dipping below freezing in many parts of East Idaho Saturday night and Sunday morning.
