That was the Tsukiji fish market, considered the largest fish market in the world (now closed). My first time in Tokyo was in April 2012 (for 2 months). It was after the earthquake/radioactive disaster, so I was a little suspicious about the fish...

My 20+ pieces of sushi (I think I got up to 28-29), and TWO beers (all eaten in a 50 Minute window, reserved for just me) was $1,200 dollars, and Jiro himself made every single piece; his son was by his side. They only accept cash, and only speak in Japanese. So, it was basically sign language for me

I would not lend too much credence to a guy who constantly measures everything in terms of money. He is obviously obsessed with money and his entire definition depends on convincing everyone he earned the respect because he has money. For guys like this everything seems to have a price.
